Cool PHP on XP
Hi all -

My friend has generously allowed me to develop PHP apps on his linux server but now I need to start to develop on my own box.

How do I go about installing PHP onto my WINXP system so that I can execute PHP scripts locally similar to the same way one would do from a linux command line?

I've read stuff about needing apache and all that but after I downloaded the packages I have no idea where to go from there...

THANKS a bunch ahead of time!

Ok, in my recent efforts with Mambo, which is run on the PHP and Mysql platform, I came across this niffy tool that mite help you out. http://mamboforge.net/frs/?group_id=106&release_id=1946

this is for developing mambo on your computer, but I beleave it also runs phpadmin, mysql, cgi background, everything that you would need to run in the background. I am trying this out right now to see if it will fit your needs, but check it out and see if it can work for you.

Yep, just reading the docs you will be able to run other scripts as well. Play with mambo though you might like it for your site. Just read the docs and it will tell you exactly where to put everything and what not. Nice program indeed.

I figured that you meant LimboServer... so I'm going to try it out now.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks Structural!

Wow MSAS is very cool for someone like me who knows nothing about being a sysadmin, root, etc..
It sets everything up easily with the click of a button.

I'm excited to start dev-ing on it.

Thanks again Structural.

BTW, I had no idea WTH I was doing with LimboServer so I dropped that effort
