New to WebDevel I Hope You can Help
I just started on my webpage and I hope you lovely people here @ TSG could help me do something without completely shoving it in my face, as in I wanna learn not have someone do it for me.

What I want is a mod of the phpBB template subBlack. First off I want a decent portal if it's possible, so I'd like to know how to startoff adding a portal to my phpBB forums or if it is possible and if it isn't is there a better (free) message board system I could use with my server?

I want it to be able to follow the basic layout of my site,
www.ixneonxi.excelitehost.com (no explicit content; rated 'G')
Which is pretty much all black and white with decently sized bold white text and a black backround ( i love this look white on black is alot better than black on white IMO )

So if i could get my portal to look like that it would be neat and I wanna be able to do it throughout all of subBlack (portal and forums) so instead of that stupid orange/yellowish text on the front page I'd rather it to be white (all the other colors styles and looks etc are ok but the 'Section' titles and 'main forum' titles i want to change to bold white instead of orange and yellow.

I also want to learn how2 change the phpBB image in the top right corning into my own image so what would i replace for that?

Hope I'm not askin too much, kid tryin to learn as I'm determined to have a super website by the end of summer. Oh, and will this take up one or two mySQL databases I know that phpBB takes up one but would adding a Portal use another? I only have two and I'm trying to only use one because I'm planning another thing for the site.

Thanx in advance everyone, I know yall can help me

PHP Nuke is a content management system and in my opinion completely naff. I think you might be looking for a CMS not a "portal". Theres plenty of free PHP CMS's available, google it. Most of them work in conjunction with some sort of forum so you should be able to get a "portal" page. I'm guessing subBlack is a PHPBB2 forum template which i highly doubt will work with PHP Nuke. However you should be able to skin manually by editing style sheets and a few template files. It's pretty easy and straight forward once you've had a dig through the files.

Yes, you're right, I don't need a portal , looking at portals that would be something like Mambo and I don't need it, PHP-Nuke seems really good so to get it to look like subBlack I'd have to mod some *.css files and prolly a couple other things I guess?

The only reason why I thought PHP-Nuke actually was a portal because if you googled php portal PHP-Nuke is the first result.

Forums are up now I have to design it to work with php-nuke.

Anyone know how to change the theme of the admin panel so it looks like the rest of the board (subBlack) the admin panel stayed subSilver.

Meh, I learn fast had to do it on my own. Check it out here : www.ixneonxi.excelitehost.com

I do wanna learn how I can add new pages to this and new links on the left like on
www.serversidemodding.com they have tutorials page and tutorials is a bold link on the left -- but it stays within phpnuke.

Also I want to know how to add new stuff to the page, maybe graphical links to TSG or excelitehost, possibly below Information where it has CSS HTML and PHP-Nuke there.

Pretty sure that is usingthe menubuilder addon;
http://phpnuke.org/modules.php?name=...u-builder.html

If not, it is probably hard coded into the template file in the themes folder

Yah but isn't that a new module thus it won't be in the same area as Forums, Downloads, Your Account, etc etc.? I want the link to the site to be the 3rd item on that list. Also that doesn't explain how to create pages on it kinda like serversidemodding's tutorials page that its almost it's own website except phpnuke still surrounds it.
Thanx for the link to the menubuilder that may come in handy in the future tho.
Got any more ideas?
Thanx again.

The links in that area are called modules, you would need to create a new module (named whatever your link is), and then create an index.php page that would display the link to the site (redirect or what have you) then upload it to you modules folder on the server. Once it is uploaded, you need to login as admin, and go to modules, there you will see it (link name) unactivated in the list. Click activate, it will then be displayed in the menu.

Menu builder is far easier to use,and you can actually just place a url as a menu item.
