Please help a newbie with page sizing?
Hi,

I have a webpage that i have made up, but i am not sure how to set the size of the actual page.
Because if i move the banner to the right, it just continues and i do not know where to stop for the size.
I am using Frontpage 2002 for the design.
Also i do not know if the grahics and text are the right size or not.
Is there a setting or command i can use to set each page to a set size?
As i have looked at the Help, but i cannot find anything.

http://www.johkaz.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

And can i ask for opinions on the pages as well?
As a lot of this is self-taught, and i do not know if i am doing it right.

Also below the banner i would like to put "Last updated on....", scrolling across the page.
Also a hit counter as well.
Does anyone know how i can do that?

Many thanks.

You could use nested tables (tables within tables) to control the size of the page... First, you need to resize the main banner -- 1128 pixels is (IMO) way too big.

Use CSS

body {
width: 755px; /*common size, but you can set it to any size*/
}

And for the asked comment:
I have a lot of friends that still use 800x600, and eventhough most people now use 1024x768 there are still some that use the smaller resolution. So that banner would be way too large for anyone on 800x600.
Usually, people try to make sites to be user-friendly to ALL possible users.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

pr0t3st - I used a template from this website http://www.createafreewebsite.net/te...k2/default.htm
As my basis for the page, and i assumed that it would have all of the code for the page setup.
But, how wrong i was...
And from this, that is how my problems have started, as i have no idea as to how set the page size.
No matter what browser screen size is viewing the page.

namenotfound - Pardon me asking but what is CSS?
And the body width thing you mention, i cannot find it in the HTML code for the page.
I did a search by opening the HTML screen, entering the words 'body width'.
And it came back with nothing.

So could this be the problem i am having with the sizing?

Thanks.

First, using templates to create webpages is fine, but you will have to modify the code to fit your needs... To set the page size either use nested tables (as I've mentioned) or CSS.

CSS can be implemented in two ways: (1) embedded directly into HTML using the STYLE attribute; (2) external stylesheets - something I prefer as it makes the page/site easier to maintain.
