Question HTML: Why would target=_blank links not work?
This is the oddest thing -- never seen anything like it.

I designed a website for a client publishing links to off-site articles.
I used <a href="PAGE" target="_blank">ARTICLE</a>
to link to the articles.

The client used Windows XP with IE6. And could NOT click
on any of those links.

All non-targeted links worked. All "new browser window" links
refused to work. Although they worked on other computers of his.
But on his computer, it wouldn't work.

I finally had to stop using the target="_blank" so that he'd
think all was OK and pay the bill.

Weird? Ever hear of anything like this?

Thanks

Talking Good one!
That's a good lead I can investigate with my client.

But I cannot image a pop-up blocker that blocks a window
from a link that someone intentionally clicks on.

That would be a pretty dumb pop-up blocker.

Thanks for your lead.

it does sound wierd... popup blockers should only block a script.. but who knows, there maybe some wierd setting in IE to disable opening links in new windows.... check the IE options aswell, i wouldnt doubt that theres a check box somewhere.

<A HREF="wilbe.jpg" target=_blank>

I have mine without the "s on the target part. May want to try that.

target
Target should be universal in IE. enclosed in tags it should, I think read

a href="whatyouwantviewed.html"target=_blank

followed by more about what you want viewed followed of course by the tagged /a

Some tags are not recognized in IE, but target should be 'owned' by HTML and work anywhere.

HTML very picky and specific. Good luck!

target="_blank" is an attribute that is recognized by all browsers, and you ARE supposed to have quotes around any attribute, according to W3C standards. It's a browser problem, not a problem with your code. I'm not sure exactly what would be causing it, but it's definitely on his end, not yours.

Does the guy have SP2 (Service Pack 2) on his Windows XP?
SP2 comes with a pop-up blocker for Internet Explorer

But if he had that proble, then a bar would show up on IE asking him if he wanted to allow that site to pop-up, if he sees no bar than it's not the blocker from SP2
