cost per page
My web developing business is new, so I'm a little uncertain about minimum cost per page. Because of being new on the scene, the last site that I created-(a wedding planner & consultant) , I belief I was extremely fair at $100 per page for the first 3 pages because there was a lot of work involved and there after per page based upon content (much less than the $100). She was happy with the end result & cost. But I've been bombarded with so many suggested what I should charge that I'm really confused. I've checked the internet, and they all seem to stay within the $100 or plus per page range. That seems a bit much to me, but at the same time I want to be careful. I don't want to be too low, because I belief that it could portray a negative image of 'you get what you pay for.' I am also confused about what to charge for the maintenance of a site. The owner of the wedding site that I spoke of is waiting for a quote, because she wants continuous upkeep & maintenance of her site. Addi tonal info will be added & removed on a continuous basis because of wedding shows & events.

I'm aiming at the small business and so therefore am taking into consideration their limited budget. Any suggestions, I'd be ever so grateful.
with thanks, ms khw
I'd like to also thank every one here for all of your help in the past, for the forum itself as well, it has been a great source of information and I might add support.

I think $100 per page is more than fair. It takes a lot more than just HTML to create a page and get a layout that a customer will be happy with.

As far as maintenece I would charge a flat hourly rate for generic changes and up the rate based on design and coding changes. For the persons site that wants it maintained on a continual basis you may want to write up a contract for the maintenece so they will know exactly what to expect and to protect yourself from being taken advantage of.

Thanks, Rockn. A contract...noted. I guess as far as end price for a job it pretty much depends on what's involved. Over time, I guess that I'll be able to work out the end cost far more easily per customer.
once again, thanks

Maybe you can make up some templates for different looks and put a price tag on each. Any additional work will cost them the flat hourly fee for customization, etc.

Templates that's a thought. I really don't want to offer templates per say to my customers, because I'm stressing that the page is as individual as their business. But putting together a few templates, would give me a better idea on how long it took, the work involved and therefore better able to come down to a final quote. Thanks once again.
