I'm new to webdesign and i would like to know how or what kind of software to use in a website to let people upload information, specially pictures with captions, videos, etc. and set space limits (1, 2, 5, or more mb) and passwords
Thanks for any info.

this is not an easy task for a beginner. this is prbably why you dont see very many posts. I would use php nuke. then let them upload thru forums of you want passwords. This kind of woork feehand can cost lotta bucks

Find out what programming languages your webhost supports. They'll probably have PHP, Perl, or ASP (or maybe all of them.)
Then you can go to http://hotscripts.com and find a script that does what you want.

Great brendandohu,

Yes that's what I would do. As jthenerd suggested that best and the easiest way is to use php. it is not difficult to learn as well. Try http://ca3.php.net/tut.php

Well, it seems like your're a beggining. Usually people would just code it themselves and make it suit their own personal preferences. I would reccommend PHP. But yea, you should check out hotscripts and see if they have one pre-made. If not, try to learn some PHP and code one yourself.
