html shows up as php
Hi, found this site from digg.com a few days ago and am really impressed so I decided to post a question.

I've made websites off and on for about 10 years just for fun. Today I ran into something I've never seen, but probably just because I don't know much about this stuff anymore.

I was looking at colorschemer.com and ran WinHTTrack Website Copier to see how they did some things on the website. When I looked at the files that are on the server I noticed they are .html files even though when you look at the website it says .php.

Like their contact page is contact.html on the server. If you go contact.html you get a 404 page. So the html files are displaying as php. How does this work?

Thanks,
Jeremy

You can use a .htaccess file if you just want to have .html files parsed for PHP on Apache. Something more complex could be done with mod_rewrite
