external CSS being ignored
Had put this at the end of the thread entitled 'page appearance in Firefox', but it seems to have been chopped off.
I have put a copy of the problem page on the web, at the link below, but am finding the external stylesheet which should accompany it is being ignored. The result is that image links have borders and spacing and normal image have spacing only, and the presentation of the page is a mess.
If anyone could look at the source and tell me why the page isn't accessing the css it would be a big help.
DrP
The css is in the same folder as the page.

maybe a misspelling? s-t-y-l-e-"e"

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="stylee.css">

and/or this is usually before the close tag 'space'/>

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="stylee.css" />

Thanks Drew. I didn't realise the filenames were case sensitive. It works no problem on my desktop and laptop but it seems that online it is case sensitive. I've changed the link to the stylesheet to 'Stylee.css' instead of 'stylee.css' and its fine. Is that true for all files on servers?
Also, When I look at this page in Forefox, the left hand side of the page gets a bit messy. Any idea why?

css itself is not case-sens. but urls most likely are on most servers, and because you are referencing your css through a url, so that does make sense it didn't find it.

as for firefox, sorry, can't help ya there. still use ie [ducks flames sure to be coming]

I'm having the same problem with Firefox, but IE6 and Opera are fine. Another online server and my personal Apache server are fine, too.

The browser requests from the server:
type="text/css"
but the server supplies the CSS file with the header:
type="text/plain"

The other browsers ignore this, but not Firefox, it ignores the entire CSS file.

Try downloading the web developer extension and try 'Edit CSS'. The page will then probably ( and temporarily ) look fine.

Sorry, I don't have a solution, other than including the CSS inline ( or changing to a different server host ).

Two possible solutions: the proper one and the kludge.

1/ Apache has a file in its CONF directory called mime.types. Add the following in the obvious place:

text/css css

The server then needs to be restarted ( at least Apache does ). You should flush Firefox's cache as well.

Different makes of server should have an equivalent setup.

The current versions of Apache have this set by default.

2/ Delete the DOCTYPE from the top of your HTML file. This is likely to cause other problems...
