I started w/ Microsoft FrontPage. There is a scaled down free version here (FrontPage Express) http://sssd.k12.ar.us/departments/dts/training/fp.htm

I made my page-(In my signature) with FrontPage to begin with. If you want to learn HTML, it really isn't that hard. I know how to do most things with it. I taught it to myself looking at code and searching for tutorials, etc. in about 6 months. I now edit mine with HTML.

Did anyone here recommend FrontPage?

If so, please name them so they may be admonished!

Did you do any of what WAS recommended?

What don't you like about FrontPage?

I don't like the fact that Microsoft created it, but not much else. I think that it is very good for a TRUE beginner that hasn't tried any of it before. You can look back and forth between HTML and Normal Views, which helps you learn HTML.

I now know all of HTML, so I do everything with it now.

If you want to learn HTML to start, I would pick up a book (or better yet print a web tutorial), Start Notepad and Firefox and get started.

In my experience it tends to insert characters, that MSIE can deal with but not Netscape. THese are not standard charaters for HTML.

I also have heard of upload corruption problems.

How about programs like Homesite 5.5 ($100.00) or editpad (free)?
