Firefox adds padding below images, IE doesn't!
This is sort of a re-post but I know more now.
I have these two websites I am making and they look, I think, good in IE. However, when I open them in Firefox they look different. The problem basically appears to be that in the following site:
http://cliveportman.co.uk/clive_site/home.html

all images have a space (probably about 5px) beneath them and the lower edge of the containing table data cell is not flush with the bottom of the image because of this space.

The second site has this problem but only on the left hand side of the page for some reason:
http://cliveportman.co.uk/school_site/home.html

I really feel I am banging my head against the wall with this, as I keep checking over and over but I am sure my code is fine. I have validated both pages on the W3C website with the only error being something in the doctype, which I doubt is related to the problem. Can paste this if necessary though.

Please help! This is really giving me a headache. What am I doing wrong?!?

I've found that one solution is to change the DOCTYPE from strict to transitional XHTML. Am I right in thinking then that Firefox requires greater accuracy and I am missing something?

Also the default alignment for images in a td in IE is top while in Firefox its middle. Sorted that one.
