How can I embed a font in a website that is not a common font on every machine?

I believe embedded fonts are only supported by IE so your cross browser compatibility is out the window.

You can't embed it, but you CAN use the font in a drawing program, type out whatever the text is, then save as a jpg, gif, png or whatever and import the image file onto your web page.

OR...you can make a .pdf file with whatever fonts you like and tell Adobe to carry the fonts you used with the document or just to render the whole page as a graphic. THEN, hyperlink to the .pdf and set a frame as the target for the document or else tell your web page program what size to make the new window for it and where to put the new window (javascript). That's alright. I thought it might have been supported by more than Internet Explorer with a simply embed. I'm not too keen on using images for it, but thankyou for the tips anyway!
