Excel to SQL?
I've got an excel file with over 1200 items in it that I need to get across to an SQL database.

The excel spreadsheet is layout out like:
A____________B_____________C______________D
Product______Main Category___Sub Category___Sub Sub Category

and I need to get them into a SQL table for the shopping cart software I am using and hopefully have the products go into their existing categories

Can this be done? - I've started entering them in manually but thats going to take a loong time.

Sql Server Dts
Assuming your using SQL Server 2000, open Enterprise Manager, and create the database you want to upload the Excel spreadsheet into. Then right-click on the database and select All Tasks > Import Data > Next > Data Source = Microsoft Excel 97-2000 > Browse for the Excel file > Next > Next on the destination screen > Next to Copy tables ... > Tick Sheet1$ > Give sensible name in destination > Next > Next to run immediately > Finish.

If the database and table already exist then just select the table where I said give sensible name and you can click on transformations to put the right column in the right field.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Alan
