Editing Publisher Web Pages
I am wondering if I can edit pages in Publisher the same as i can with Front Page. I have a site that I made with Front Page and it is quite simple to edit and maintain but a friend of mine made a site with Publisher and he wants some help with it. I opened it up in Front Page and it was a mess so i am assuming it can be edited only with Publisher. It appears that it saved every thing in a folder as a graphic. There was a pub file and a htm file. I am not sure why both. And a page called pubmaster which i am not sure if i have to edit also. If i edit one page do i have to republish the site or can i just upload the edited page. I am totally confused.

Thanks for your help.

They are completely different programs. Publisher saves core files as .pub and it is used esentially for advertisements, and publishing (desktop publishing) of flyers. The HTML file is an output, so that the page can be viewed in a browser (but it is not truely saved as an html document) Publisher adds what is classed as bad code and special markup language to the design (Same as using MSword to create web pages), rendering it virtually non editable in most html editors. This is much the same as a flash document .fla converted to a .swf file, it can be grabbed and opened, but not fully and most of the actual scripting and code is erased from the .swf file.

Dreamweaver has a utility called cleanup html, which removes most MS aded tags and special markup, so it may convert it for you. You can download a trial of Dreamweaver and try to clean up the html, then save it which will then allow you to edit it completely with Frontpage.
