Check Remaining Space
Quite new with HTML stuff, how would I check how much space I have remaining and bandwitdh? Using FTP.

I just access it thru IE or net2ftp (web based ftp client).

Thanks!

Depends on what type of host you are using.

I know with the host we have where I work, they have a program within the control panel that will tell me how much space I am using. Then I just take that and subtract it from the total amount of space I have.

Another way to do it is to just see what the size of your site is on your computer. Then subtract that from your total space on your host. I have whatever is on my website, all contained in one folder, and then everything is organized in folders within that folder.

Hope this helps.

It helps a bit...

But my host just provide the webspace and FTP access, unfortunately nothing else .
And I dont actually use it yet for my site... just using it as a file storage for mp3, images and the likes...

just wondering if I can put some type of file that would give me the stats or webspace info...

Thanks!

I see what you mean now. I'm not sure of any file you can put in that would calculate it for you. There may be something like that though.

The only other thing I would know is to just add up your file sizes, and subtract that from whatever amount of web space they gave you.

Someone else may know of a better way though.

Does your host offer a control panel, or can you ask them how much total space you have?

Since our place is away from a CO, DSL isnt available to us...
So my ISP provides wireless highspeed internet... much like Verizon Broadband but we use a modem instead of a card.

Found this tutorial... http://www.omnicity.net/hosting/tutorials.php

But not sure if it applies with the type of account I have...
I submitted a query if it applies or not.

I upload files thru FTP but dont know how to access the Plesk Control Panel the tutorial is referring to.

Their hosting accounts have a control panel, can you not access that?
http://www.omnicity.net/hosting/tutorials.php

Otherwise you might just have to check the size of your files and subtract from 50.
