Question Best Place To Buy And Register A Domain?
Got this bud who wants to start his own business on the net so I thought I'd see what you all have to say. I haven't kept up with it since that one company that had the market cornered got busted up. Was it ICANN? .. All I remember is other countrys were complaining because of the monopoly.

Thanks

I think ICANN is still the main one, and all the others are affiliates/resellers.

Google for "cheap domain registeration", get the best deal

ICANN never sold domains, maybe you're thinking of Netsol or VeriSign. Its hard to recommend a company without knowing what TLD he's trying to register, but there's a list here:

Thanks Everyone. I can't give out his idea since he just thought it up and could turn out to be a real money maker.

I will post back when he's all setup.

I suggested a *.com because I believe those are the most popular.

Why stay away from godaddy? It's just fine.

Anyway, I prefer namecheap.com. Use the code EVENLOWER to get a discount. The price will be 7.98 or something like that, and you can pay using paypal.

I recommend RadioTower.net. It's the registrar for TSG and my website as well as for several friends of mine's sites. A bit more expensive than some others......but I trust Mike Cermak more than some others............

With Yahoo, you can get a domain for $3.95 I believe. I like Yahoo better and you don't have to host your website with them.

You don't have to host with Go Daddy. I use a different host, but bought my domain from them.
