Need help with expanding and minimizing webpage
Hello,
I made a template for a website in Photoshop and am using Dreamweaver 8 to add text, pictures, content and elements.

I would like the page to resize itself when I expand the page and also resize when the page is minimized. If you do not understand what I am talking about, try minimizing and maximizing Tech Support Guy, and the elements will be resized to the window.

It seems like this is an extrememly common element to a website, because almost all have it, and yet I have no clue how to do it. Thank you for you help!

In dreamweaver, go to the code section, and try putting <center> before the code starts, and then put </center> after. Just make sure when you put the <center> it doesn't automatically create a the closing tag (</center>). I think dreameweaver does that.

I'm not sure that will work, but it's worth a try.

Most sites use bagkground imaged that have a width set to 100% for certain elements like div's or table elements. The web pages will expand or contract to a certain point based on the size you initially make your page. If you make the initial sixe 800 x 600 in Photoshop (pretty much standard) the page elements set to 100% width will expand if you set the resolution to 1024 x 768.

Look at the source for some pages that do this and you will see different examples of how to accomplish this. Wish I knew of a good tutorial, but I don't.

Thank you for your response. I just tried that, but all it does is just center everything (text, images, etc.) and still doesn't resize it when minimized or maximized. Thanks for the response though.

How do you set the background image's width? Thanks

EDIT: How do I set the resolution of the page?

Images normally have height and width attributes. You can set the element width to 100% and leave the image width blank and it will resize. Or you could use the backgroung repeat x or y using CSS.
