Fade effect links
What would need to be done to get a link to "fade" into it's hover color from it's normal color and back to normal when it's not being hovered? I know of a website I could post for an example but it would be advertising so I hope someone understands what I'm trying to ask. Could this be done using hex codes via CSS?

Go ahead and post the site, it will help folks to understand what you mean. I doubt what you're talking about can be done via CSS, but rather it will likely take Javascript. BTW, have you looked at the source code on the page to try to figure it out?

Forgot to do that. You were right. It is Javascript. I tried turning it off and it stops working. I did find this just now within the source but wouldn't know if it's it.

<script type="text/javascript" src="fader.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="jsfunctions.js"></script>
<script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript">

The link is normally grey but if you hover it, it fades or transits into the red slowly instead of just changing immediately. I'm guessing the normal and hover colors are set via CSS and that code does the rest? I'll post the site if you really want but I'd like for a Mod to okay it first. If anyone knows how to do this (or if what's above is indeed how to do it), I'd appreciate knowing what's needed and where to place it.

Thanks but that seems aimed for a website. What about a forum like vBulletin? There's the header and headerincludes boxes but they contain no header tages. It mentions placing the bit of code before the table tag and the part about applying the class to the link? I don't see anything like that. I'm kind of a bit lost here.

Most code designed for website will also work on message boards such as vBulletin. You just need to know where to add it.

I'm not fimilar with vB so I couldn't tell you where the code goes, sorry.

Sorry Racoon_Guy, but I don't think you'll get it to work on a board because both the source code you posted and the site Brendan suggested requires a server-side JavaScript to be loaded in the root directory. If it is your board then you'll have access to the directory but if not, I think you're out of luck.

Javascript isn't server-side, it is client-side.

Server-side would be something like PHP or ASP.
