want to add a video from ftp to my website!?
Hi,

I have two videos, well three videos saved in my public ftp folders on the site that I have. two are the same in different formats. I have them in both .WMV formats and RMVB. I can render them differently through the program I created them in. I can choose formats such as .mov or .wav if need be. Anyway, I want to be able to make a link to these videos. What is the best way to have people view these videos and how do I know what the exact address is, when I have them stored in FTP. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks!

They would need to be in a web accessible folder. If you have a website, this would be for example....HTML, WWW, Public_Html. It all depends on your web hosting site.

hmmm
so is "public ftp" viewable from outside viewers. Thats the thing too is that I am not sure what the direct link is to these videos through ftp. I have to upload through ftp because it is too big.

You can view files thru FTP on a Website. They need to be in your Website directory. I am assuming you have a website folder in their some where. Just put the files in there.

moved
I moved the file blackdog.wmv to public html but the direct link does not work. it would be heavenleebaby.com/blackdog.wmv why does that not work. other things saved there such as heavenleebaby.com/afiretruck.jpg works. I don't get it.

Very odd. You should at least be able to download the file if it is in a web acessible directory. The only thing I can think of is if they are blocking that file type on the server.

Is that the exact spelling of the file. It the casing correct?

Try changing the file extension and linking to it, just to see if it will at least let you download and save it.

Right click the "link" in your ftp folder and choose properties, it will tell you the location.
eg;
ftp://yourusername@ftp.somelocation.com/sounds/Windows XP Critical Stop.wav
