Talking Looks like Divx has a totally fre web player for your web server and clients
I would really like to know what the experts in this forum this about this.

It appears to me that Divx Labs has created a situation where Divx compressed Video (MPEG4), where the player can be installed in ones web site and can be played from the web site with nothing more needed on the client.

The video would also be able to be saved and played locally, but that would mean the client would need to download the free Divx Player.

There even is a Divx scripts writer that will copy the script into your own page.

Here is the link:

Even more is that is a web developer uses the DivX Web Player onto your website, you will automatically be given a serial number that will allow the web author to use the full DivX for Windows or DivX for Mac $20.00, Pro package for free.

Almost seems to good to be true. I have been using Divx for years and personally have two stand alone DVD players which play it.

They still have to download the player, it's installed as a browser plug-in.

My thoughts are simple, nearly everyone on the planet has WMP installed so using WMV is your best bet IMO. That or flash. People don't like downloading and/or installing additional programs especially just to see short clips. Unless it becomes mainstream I'll stick with WMV.
