Question Bulletin Board Set UP
I spent hours trying to set up a BB with phpBB. After going through FTP several times and finally my iPower control panel, I made it to the installation page.
I am just now finding out that I do not have the correct information to input in the Database Configuration. When I click on "Install," I receive the error message that I cannot connect to the database. There are several error messages.
Tech support at iPower told me to enter 'dbuser' for UN and 'password' for PW. The field titled "Your Database Name" should have the name of my database. I was not aware that I had to create a database and having been in 2 db classes, I cannot imagine creating tables etc. Something seems wrong here. Maybe just inexperience on my part????
From previous posts, I received the impression that this was an easy thing to do.
Please advise and do not hesitate to ask any questions that you have.
Thanks

You don't have to create any tables, the install script creates them for you. The only thing you need to do is neter the correct information on the install page. Sounds to me as if the only thing you're doing wrong is entering the wrong information. If the information is wrong the installation will fail.

Copy the roors and paste them here.

You have to create a MySQL database. No need to create any tables. Add a user to the database. All this will be simply point and click job.

Then modify specified config file of phpBB and supply the name of DB, username and password. The rest (like table creation) will be taken care by the installation script.

This is the normal procedure followed by most scripts that need a DB and IMO, its a good secure practice. You can't let any script create a DB on your site with a username and password of its choice

Yes. Manually create the database. Enter the database's details into the installation.
