First off, what kind of files are you hosting? Maybe there is a way to compress them, for example, if their images, this can be easily done, same with video files.

If the majority of visitors of your website will be from Australia, then get hosting from there, or you can even get your own dedicated servers. That would be best, but they are pretty expensive.

If you have 3GB, you will probably need a dedicated server or at least a VPS. Your best bet is to search around http://webhostingtalk.com until you find one you like.

most of the files will be mp3....not music!!! so should be good...

why the need for a dedicated server ? also it will be for around the world anyways not just australia...

thanx

Now that I think about it, shared hosting would be fine for that, but you will need to find one that offers a lot of bandwidth if you're going to be serving up 3GB of files.

You should compress each song with winzip to lower down the size a bit.
