Using preg_match
function chk_lettersandspaces($string) {
return !preg_match ("/[^A-z]/", $string);
}
I believe this checks the string only contains letters. I wish to allow spaces in the string also - how do I do that?

EDIT: I think I've done it. This seems to be working:
function chk_lettersandspaces($string) {
return !preg_match ("/[^A-z],' '/", $string);
}
Is that ok?
Thanks,

Ok. It wasn't right. My extra ' ' was being ignored but still returning TRUE.
I've worked out you allow characters like so:
function chk_lettersandspaces($string) {
return !preg_match ("/[^A-z\ \!\'\?]/", $string);
}
but it won't work this way with speech marks, ie \" doesn't work and stops the function returning TRUE.
How do I get speech marks accepted by this function?

Anyone? How do I check for " when using preg_match?
Using \" doesn't seem to work.
Please!
