How Is It Possible?
Hello

I recently opened a new website (yesterday) and all has been going well up untill earlier today when a few members mentioned that they are seeing the old pre-launch page.

Well the said pre-launch page was only used to advertise my site, letting everyone know when the site would open. Once the launch time arrived, I deleted the launch file, and replaced it with a new index.html file with all the website info on it.

I can see the new information and everyone else could but now they are saying they can see the old launch page. How is this possible, when I deleted it yesterday? I tried the site in IE and it works for me, and also I tried firefox, which works too.

There is only a index.html file & 4 image files in my public_html folder. So how is it possible that they are seeing a file that was deleted?

Any help on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou

Tell them to try a hard refresh (CTRL + F5)

It's probably still in their cache.

Hi knight_47

Thanks for your reply.

A member of my site mentioned to do that but another member tried it and said that he could still see the old page.

It is really baffling me as I can't understand how they are seeing a file that was deleted.

I've had this happen, too, and this was the reason.

Did the DNS change (e.g. you switched servers where the site is hosted)?

That will take a few days before it propogates.

Hi sorry I have taken so long to reply.

the link to my site is http://www.dollarinsanity.com

People should see the site with Launched: 28th October 2006 at the top. But they see the one with Launching 28th October 2006 .

the thing is though, many members could see the new page up until this morning, yet I deleted the page they see now yesterday. How can that happen?

and no I have not changed servers thecoalman. It is really puzzling me.

Thanks for that.

Many people have cycled to the second stage and been paid. It's a game and my members know as much.

But I am here to ask about the problem, not talk about my site. sorry.

Correct me if I'm wrong... 5 people pay 5 bucks, you have $5 in the bank. One more person joins you have $6 but you have to pay the top person $5 from the first group which leaves you $1. One more person joins and you have $2 but you the second person from the first group get $5 which leaves you with -$3 .... The only person that can get paid is the first person to move into the second tier... Hence the reason it's illegal. If you're in the US you can be prosecuted for fraud for running such a scheme.

You got it completely wrong.

each person joining pays $1. When 5 join 1 gets thier $1 back and moves to stage 2
Another 5 its the same, 1 gets $1 and moves up.

In stage 2 same. every 5 that move up 1 cycles to stage 3 and gets $5 . . .so on.

Any more info on my problem?

No i am not in US.
