Question Solved: this may be a dumb question..
Not sure if I have the right forum for this, and it just may be a dumb question. I've been working on a site, creating it in photoshop and then going through the slice process. Here is my problem, I'd like to place an image behind the text. I know that if I create the body of text in photoshop it will be a gif when sliced therefore not readable if images are turned off. Removing it and placing text in that space is an option, but that also removes the image from behind. Any thoughts on how I can solve this?
thanks

I may be out of touch with web development, but what is the slice process, and what is it good for?

Place the image as the background image of the table cell. Then, enter your content as normal.

Yes, I thought of that. But if my text extends further then planned then the image will tile. I suppose I could make it a seamless image. Thoughts on whether this would be the way to go?

If possible, seamless images work great. Thats what I use most of the time for my site bgs.

Sorry bassetman I probably said that wrong. I was talking about the slice tool in photoshop.

To slice is to take a large image and cut it down into small ones so that the site can be laid out. Also, if you slice your images in photoshop, it can generate the base html for you. This way, you can create the site as 1 image and easily transfer it into a table-based layout for html.

How about using style="z-index:X" on the image and the text box/table. The item with the highest z-index value appears as the top layer on the page, with subsequent ones under it.
