Why do people nest tables?
I just thought about it. I can usually achieve the same effect with a bunch of <tr>'s and <td>'s that people are doing with nesting multiple tables.

So what they do with multi nested tables, can easily be done with just one table.

So WHY do some people nest tables? I just don't understand it.

Very, very few people code tables, its not very easy and its very annoying.

Mostly tables are created by the program they are using. (frontpage, etc.)

As MMJ said tables are usually created using wizards in webdesign programs. If i have to program tables by hand i find it just as easy to use div's as their both equally as annoying

I have to agree with MMJ on this one

divs are extremely easy to work with. Tables ARE indeed annoying, but I never found working with divs to be annoying

with tables you have to define the table width & height, the cell width & height, the row width & height, and the column width & height.

Yuck!

So you are telling me divs don't need to have any parameters set, they just "know" how you want them formatted?

I also have some magic beans for sale!!

No, I didn't say that, they are just easier to deal with.

haha. i still preffer to use tables. sorry. i only just RECENTLY (and very recent as in this month) started teching myself and learning the hardcore tableless methods that are supposed to be "correct". or whatver. i just roll my eyes because i think the w3c is too picky sometimes. like it was complaining one time that i capatalized the P in a
Code:
<p>
tag. O_o

but anyway. i nest them because it's easier to be honest. and in case you want to make it look diffrent than the rest of the table.

oh and because back in the days, there was a neat way to get a nice thin stylish border using two tables. it was first shown to me by a newsletter from bravenet.com. now they're prolly like the rest of the web community where they try to deny ever using them and are now converted css only users. whatev!

W3C is doing that for our own good, its much easier.

The only thing that I find W3C is annoying in is target="_blank"

Well that's because they feel that it should be the clients choice how to open links, and not the arthurs.

You can always get around that with some JavaScript anyway

Yeah, I know.

I'd rather use Trans than use js.
