Front Page 2000
I have a question about FP2000, I would like to add hidden photo galleries to my website then use a hyperlink to access them. Would I have to upgrade to a newer version of FP to be able to do this or could I use another gallery editor and then link to the saved files ??

You can add any image program or script and add the link to it using the existing front page version you have.

You would create the gallery, then link to the gallery folder's index page.

Not sure about being hidden though, if its on the website any one can (and all bots will) find it pretty easy, especially if your linking to it from a page.

You may want to create a password protected directory for your images, so you have to login to view them. Can you use server scripts like php or asp?

Thanks for your response, What I meant by hidden, was from view until you clicked the link, then the gallery would open and you could view the pictures.

The reason I was asking is the gallery creation option is not available in 2000 it was added in the 2002 version. I may have to use seperate software create the gallery then link to it.

But thanks again I appreciate your thoughts.

Lightbulb Idea
Here's an idea you might try. If you want to hide a link what I normally do is insert a symbol in either a corner or at the bottom of a specific web page, making it very small and not very noticeable. Then make it a hyperlink to it and remove the underline. If you really want to hide a link try something similar and make the color of the link the same as the background or under lay. This way you and anyone you tell will only know the exact location of where it is.

I hope this helps, if not FrontPage 2003 which I use has a feature that depending on your web host will allow you to access a user accounts window. "Tools, Server, Administration Home." Here you can add user accounts and passwords to web pages, folders, and sub domains. If you have any other FrontPage questions, I can do my best to help you. I’ve used FrontPage for about 6 years. Good Luck and have Fun!

Thanks techtim89, I guess I am not really making this very simple, I just want to have the links show up on the page, not the galleries themselves. But thanks for the ideas much appreciated. I may purchase the upgrade to Expression web and then I will have the abilitly to create and link to photo galleries.

Again thanks

I was just saying that you dont need to use the frontpage componant to make image galleries, and updating to get something that is very prevalent on the net for free isnt value at all..

Still dont understand what your asking, I assume you want to do this:

view this gallery

If so, it isnt really a hidden link, its a simple hyperlink to the gallery.

or are you asking how to create a link to the actual image like this example link not the gallery?

Please elaborate further.

What I would like to do, is like your example of "view this gallery". I would like to be able to make photo galleries similar to that then just have a hyperlink on the webpage to view them. The same as your example.

Oh yeah and thanks for trying to answer my question.
