Smile Solved: Which Editor ??
Which type of web editor should i use i'm totally confused coz some of my friends told me that hand coding is the best . But i wonder in this fast paced world where everybody want to get results fast, one would opt out for a WYSIWYG editor instead of breaking his head on the codelines.
I have dreamweaver 8 as well as Microsoft expression web. As for microsoft editor i read that it is tailored only for Internet explorer is it true?
I'm a beginner and have no detailed fancy for coding though i know some syntaxes but i like the visual part. Kindly help me out coz i want to concentrate mainly on CSS styling.I also came across this new software for css designing called CSS Stylemaster from www.westciv.com.

God !! what should i do where to start from i'm still deciding its been a month.

I'm sure everyone is different. But for me, I code much much faster when I code by hand. The WYSIWYG editors not only are limited, but they seem to slow me down.

However, if you're new to the game, and not to familiar with coding by hand, then by all means use a WYSIWYG.

At the end, it all comes down to preference.

IN many wysiwyg editors, you can edit by hand and have a preview window that previews what you are doing.

I use Dreamweaver 8. It has a code view, a design view and a split view that shows both. I tend to use the split view and code by hand. The only thing I can think of that I use the design half of the frame for is if I'm creating a page with a lot of links and I want to use the click and point feature to link to the files. But I leave it split because sometimes I'll notice that the design doesn't look right and realize I didn't close a div or something. Ultimately, it's up to you. But I would caution that if you only use the design view, you'll likely have to go back and make changes at some point. What it LOOKS like it's doing is not always what it IS doing. For example, if you highlight a word and change a color, what happened? Did the software apply a span style to that word? Did it add a style to that page? If you don't look at the code, you have no way of knowing. If you don't know HTML very well, I would suggest that you create in the design view and then if you become more interested in learning the HTML, you can look at the code to see what it did and start to get a feel for why. That will help you learn how to create similar pages. The benefit to knowing how to code by hand is that you can code anywhere and you don't have to rely on being at your computer with your software. It also makes it much easier to troubleshoot display problems.

I would download a free, good, css, table-less template than edit it by hand. Thats how I learned.

I always just had a natural nack for CSS, I never had to take already-made templates to see how the code was done. After taking a look at some examples on w3.org I started making CSS templates.

I guess I just have a natural talent for absorbing information
