Solved: Notepad stopped working for HTML and web pages
I do all my HTML on notepad for my website. I finished one page and uploaded it fine. Then I started another page saved it and looked at it offline and it was fine. Then the next time I looked at it, it was all gibberish. I uploaded it just to check it but the only thing that showed up online was a gif item. What happened to notepad? I have no idea how to fix it.

I checked it in both browsers, IE 6 and Firefox and the last documents I saved come out in gibberish language. It also does the same now when I try to bring up these files in Notepad. All my other files are fine, those are not corrupted. (I am not sure if this post belongs here or in software.)

Google it.

Also please edit post #7 and remove the file contents. Please attach it instead.

Can you open Notepad and type some text like,

"This is a test"

Save it and see if it gets corrupted? Somehow, you might have saved an image with the same name as a HTML file you really intended to edit, which is possibly why you're having this problem.

Peace...

Yes notepad is working now. But I was worried how that happened all of a sudden when I was working on a file and saving it. I don't want to have to go through and redo a whole page again if it happens again. It never happened before.
Yes, that was the only thing that shows up, gif89a.

How do I attach a file here?

When you click "Post a Reply!", there will be a "Manage Attachments" button below the message composition area. Click that to upload your file attachment.

Peace...
