Getting to top of search engine!
I have a product with a very unique name and want to get near the top of the search engines.

A) Do meta tags still work? Does google support them anymore?

B) What is another way? (development wise)

Thanks guys!

Google does not use meta tags for its searches. The best ways are to submit your site to google and to have other reputable sites link to you. Here are google's tips on SEO:

Hope that's helpful.

Wendy's link says about all there is to be said, but I just wanted to add that if your product name is as unique as you say, then don't worry about optimising your site for that word, especially if you hold the domain yourproductname.com. It should after a little while come out on top anyway if somebody searches for it.

However, most people are unlikely to search for your product name unless you have a long established and well known product. Focus your time on optimising your site for keywords that people are more likely to search for; i.e. if I owned a company called Micro$oft, I'd probably want to rank first for a search on "operating systems". See what I mean - if people haven't heard of your product, they can't search for it directly!

I would utilize a little ppc, like an adwords account to get on some related result pages.
