Question Embedding an MP3
I have a player code already. I need to create the mp3 code. I read somewhere it was

http://www.yourdomainname.com/player/song.mp3

Basically I need to download sermons for my church. I have the MP3's in Windows media player but I could put them in WinAmp or something. Anyway if they are in Windows media player what is the code for the player part? Does that make sense? HA HA

The player code is

<embed src= "http://www.odeo.com/flash/audio_player_standard_gray.swf" quality="high" width="300" height="52" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars= "valid_sample_rate=true&external_url=[MP3 file address]" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"> </embed>

Where it says [mp3 file address] I need to put in the code for my mp3. That's where I am lost. Help! Thanks!

yes, and I should say I realize that I will have to upload the mp3 into my files etc. I just don't know what to save the file as and then what the code is to embed it with that player. Although I don't have to use that player. It is just a code I found and liked.

as far as i know, url's are just that. url's.

soooo

if you upload your mp3 to your host. especially in the exact same direcotry as your flash thingy, the code can be as simple as "mysermon.mp3"

if you like to keep things organize and have them in their own mp3 directory, just add

"sermons/mysermon.mp3"

if your pulling this from a seperate site entirely, its as easy as "http://www.mywebsite.com/mysermon.mp3"

btw. i'm not sure but you might need to either keep the quotation marks, or get rid of them.

so basically, it should end up looking like this

Quote:
<embed src= "http://www.odeo.com/flash/audio_player_standard_gray.swf" quality="high" width="300" height="52" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars= "valid_sample_rate=true&external_url=mysermon.mp3" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"> </embed>

so then if I am going to upload it. How do I do that straight from Windows Media or WinAmp? I thought I had to put that code Http://www.mywebsite.com/ etc in a notepad document and save it?

to upload anything into a host/server you normally need an ftp program. though websites like geocities will have their own web-based uploading you can use and others offer that as well sometimes.

and you are correct, you will have to type in all this code, along with the correct url inside whatever webpage/site you want it to be on. i thought you were famliar with webpage design or making pages in general.

first you have to make a simple basic index. i mean, if all you care for is having a link to d/l, it could be as simple as..

Quote:
<html><head><title="stuff"></head><body>

PASTE THAT CODE UP THERE HERE I GUESS

</body></html>
(this is all done in like notepad or something) then save it all as "index.htm" and upload that along with the mp3 files into a host and...that should be it.

I am familiar with the way my company does it, but not with how the church website works. It threw me. Thanks for the help. I have only really been doing this for a couple of months so...I know some basics and that is about it.
