new to php
hi,

I am very new to php so this may sound a very silly question but I trying to view a page in a browser on my pc using php rather than uploading it, anyway, I typed in http://localhost:8080/photorestorati...-for-order.php and I got a 404 not found error, have I typed this incorrectly, please help. My localhost will only work if I type in 8080

thanks

Your question probably doesn't have anything to do with php, since you're not getting a php error. Do you have a web server running on your local machine? Is it set to respond to port 8080? Note that the standard port is 80, so you would have to have done some work to set it to 8080. Do you have php installed on your local machine, and have you told your web server about php? Have you typed the name of the file correctly in the url?

let us know your operating system and the full details of what you are trying to do..

a 404 error is caused when the script or file is not present at that location...

in case you are using windows, try using easyphp, or wmap...

I see that you are trying to run an avactis photo store....

I will help you out there, also try using 4images, coppermine and gallery scripts..

why?

They are much better and free of cost...

@ehymel: If got a 404 error then he definitely has a server installed.

@aconite:

How did you config Apache and PHP?

What is the document root for the server?

It is a Windows machine, right?

LoadModule php5_module "C:/Program Files/AMP/php5apache2_2.dll"

Empty the document root then open localhost:8080 with your browser.

What do you see?

How did you config Apache and PHP?
