Question RSS Feeds
I'm considering creating some RSS feeds for some projects at work. I know little to nothing about RSS, but it has my creative mind thinking about getting information to customers. There's some requirements I'll need to have a chance to make this work.

1) Can the RSS feed access websites that require a login and password?

2) Can logic be applied to the information in the XML, such that it will yield "processed" information? Example: I create a feed to retrieve all the Latest news articles at cnn.com. But I want to know how many NEW articles there are from the last feed, and I want to know how many articles have the word "Iraq" in the article.

sample output:
"There are 6 new articles, 3 articles contain the word Iraq."

Can this logic processing be applied to the RSS output to the user?

Much appreciation to any help/answers---

where/how are you planning on putting this lvie to customers?

basically what software /language would need to be used to do this?

I know that this is very doable in php and asp i have done so myself.

As for how many articles int he alst fed, that can be counted easily with the above and often many decent feeders put information in there feeds like how many articles.
