Htdocs access problem
Whenever I try to copy files to the htdocs folder of my XAMPP installation, it says I do not have the required permissions.

I am logged in as root so I don't think I can get any more privileges...

When i look at the folder's properties, the owner of the folder is set to nobody and I can't change it

Thanks in advance!

hmm not sure about this, but lets see if we can get some more info:

what OS you on?
Is this running on a server or desktop?
Who isntalled XAMPP, if you how did you do it?
Are you logged in as true root? as root you should be able to do everything, including changing any file owners.
Are you trying to change the permissions/owner via the file exploror or by shell acccess (assuming you ar eon linux) by your reference to root.

1. I'm on Linux
2. Desktop
3. I installed it by following the intructions on the xampp site, using the command

Code:
tar xvfz xampp-linux-1.6.3b.tar.gz -C /opt
4. I'm not sure abut being logged as true root, I just typed su on the terminal.
5. I've tried both

Thanks for your help

Try loggin directly as root, not your normal user then SU.

Some permissions may not be translating properly, or SU may not be setup correctly.

If you log in as root, go via terminal to the folder and try:

chown -R root:root htdocs

and perhaps might be worth doing chmod -R 777 htdocs

since this is a desktop test server, doesn't really matter if all your fiels are 777 accessable.
