Will this work on a smaller monitor?
i'm wondering if maybe there's a program, or website where one can put a url in and see how it looks on different size, resolution, etc. monitors?

I now have a 17" flat monitor, but for years had an old style 13" one and sometimes websites would get cut off when I looked at them. I'm not going to assume everyone has big monitors (and highspeed internet)

I'm making the website for an artist (the mistakes in the pictures are those of the one doing the lettering, and sometimes I have to get them corrected. on the current page, i also suggested redoing the lettering to make it easier to read)

I mainly do it by hand, set up the tables, and such. And use "percent" (usually 80% of the page)

The original page has 4 "thumbnails" across (and I know they are big for thumbnails. I"m mainly doing what the artist wants. Colors, setup, etc)

Last night I tried it out with 5 across instead

I like it this way better, and it looks fine on my 17" monitor. All I can find to try it out are people with that size or bigger.

Maybe nobody does have 13" or so anymore, but I'd like to make sure.

I'm not really an expert at website making (self-taught) but i'm thinking if I use percent for the table it will fill that percent of the monitor screen, regardless of the size, resolution, etc?

Thanks!

Carrie

I can't imagine anyone, definitely not many people, still using a 13" monitor. Maybe a 15", but even I've never used a 13" monitor on anything except a dumb terminal.

Seems like it says (or once said) somewhere on this board there's no such thing as a dumb question. Apparently, I asked one here.

Maybe I asked it wrong, and should have been, if I use percent (for width) in a table, it will adjust to fit any size monitor someone (maybe some dumb person who does know any better) might be, for whatever reason, be using?

Actually, I have an old 13" monitor on my PC (which has a 17" flat screen) as a 2nd monitor, to use to drag things onto (tutorials I might be doing, tools, to leave room on the main monitor, etc. But when I drag a webpage onto it, it stays big from the big screen, and doesn't show how it would look on a small one.

probably I'm behind the times with a 17" monitor and the average one is now 23" or bigger.

Hi Starchild,

If you were to base it on 800px width withinn the main table / div tag, then you wont be far wrong. In my opinion, anything to accomodate any smaller resolotions / monitors would be too small.

Anthony
