Graphics not showing in web application
I am not a programmer. I am trying to use a program developed for us so that our sales reps can access graphics that they might want for a future tradeshow. Most of the graphics (thumbnails and regular size) show up just fine. of the approximately 1000 pictures, 55 will not show up on any website. I can view them on my computer and other computers, but when I upload them to the host of the software they do not show up (box red x) I thought it was the program, so I set up a page on a couple of my personal wesites and the same thing happened. I can see most of the pictures, but these few do not show up. All the graphics come to us from the same vendor and I have tries several different cd that they have sent and these always give me the same result. It seems that these must be formated differently or corrupt, but I do not know where to go to get them fixed. I have set up a page http://www.chapelrockweb.com/picsample.htm to show the problem.

Ok, there's something up with the images *themselves*. Firefox and IE would NOT open two of the images on your test page. Opera actually did. I was then able to save the image to my machine, open it in my graphics tool (Gimp), save it to a new file name, and the file I saved now opens in IE and Firefox as well as Opera.

What is wrong with the image files, I could not determine.

Attached are the original and copied images that I could not and could (respectively) open in Firefox and IE. Maybe someone else can find out what is wrong with the original images.

Peace...

The same happened for me (using Firefox) - I could only see one image.

Do you know which ones won't open out of the 1000 that you have?

If so, I suggest doing a batch file extension change in a program like Paint Shop Pro (Photoshop might also do this). I think you can "change" the files to the same file type, or maybe change them to a different one and then change it back. This should have the same effect as what tomdkat did, but on a bigger scale.

Firefox gave me "The image “http://attachments.techguy.org/attac...200.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors."

Sounds like it's worth a try. I know ImageMagick supports batch operations well. One thing he could do is run a batch "conversion" using photos in one location and having them written out in another location. Then, he could load individual images in IE or Firefox at random to see if the pseudo-conversion worked.

Peace...

Yep, I got that as well but unfortunately, Firefox wouldn't tell me what the actual errors were.

Peace...

Thanks to everyone. I know exactly which one were bad. The main problem was that there was no problem until I put them on any web page. I used PSP to open them and got an error message
Color profile Mismatch: Embedded Kodak SWOP Porrfer CMYK - coated stock Working sRGB Color Space Profile icm ...The documents colors were converted to the working space. I clicked OK...I then saved it exactly the same name and type and it is fine.

The problem was I could not go back to the graphic guy if he can see the graphic and I don't have any idea what to fix. I am in the process of doing it as we type. Thanks for all your help. You guys got me going in the right direction.
