Opinions/ideas please!!
Hi everyone,

I'd really love some opinions and/or ideas for the (security) structure of my website. Here's a little bit about it. A real estate advertising service/website, where private sellers and agents can list properties. I was thinking about building it so that the real estate agents can log in and update their clients properties as they please. I think I would need to do the initial upload of photos/details but then the agent could log on update the details if need be, such as the property price, etc. So my questions are: is this the best way to go about it or should I maintain full control of the information on the website i.e. if an agent wants to change any detail of the listing they should email me with the details and I'll make the changes accordingly? If I do incorporate a 'membership' facility on my site where agents can log in and change property details, how should I structure the site? I have researched how to setup memberships, etc so I understand that but I'm having trouble picturing the site structure in my head, for example will I essentially have 2 websites? One that the public (anonymous users) can access and one for the real estate agents? What about each individual real estate compnay? How do I set it up so that the real estate agents can only change their company's properties? Do I have an initial 'agent log in' form on the homepage of the site or should I build it so that under each property there's a litle area where agents can log in and change the details of that listing?

It's all so overwhelming and confusing at this stage, I'd be forever grateful if anyone can makes this process clearer for me....unfortunately it's not one of those things you can google...

Thanks in advance!

Well if you had a site wide membership system where users and agents can login the agents would be able to update property and members would be able to say save a list of properties there interested in. There is a security risk with everything but if you construct the site carefully letting agents update properties will be no more of a risk than you doing it you self.

And i think the more control you give agents the more popular your site will be.
