I have used the whois directory to see if the domain I want to use is available. It reads that it is, but that it is registered with network solutions. You can buy the domain through them, but at a much higher cost then most .com extensions. Could someone explain why this is so. Is Network Solutions in the business of buying domains and then reselling them? If yes, will the domain be exclusively mine, and in future allow me to change registrars? End result pay less for renewal?

Is it a premium resale domain? There are many people in the business of buying domains they hope others will eventually want and will be willing to pay a premium for. Once you buy it it's yours and you can do what you want. What is the domain name in question?
