Web Design and Win NT 2000
I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a possible way to see virtually how a webpage looks via WIN 2000. A client of mine is having major issues with the way his website is showing up on his computer.

I have asked numerous ppl how the site looks via their computers and it looks the same as does on mine.

The client is running Win NT 2000 and in the IE browser on his machine the site doesnt display right, but if he opens FF on the same machine, he sees what is seen on everyone elses computer.. the correct layout..

I know there are virtual browser testings, but could there be virtual OS testing?

thanks!

Which version of IE is your client using? I think this would be more of an IE version issue than anything having to do with Windows 2000. If your client is using IE 5.x, that is probably the source of the page rendering issue since IE 5.x is so old.

Peace...

He is usin the version 6 I believe..

He also says that its all of the work computers at his job, and they all run the same thing.

Its driving me nuts though. I have taken a look at his settings and etc on the computer and its all on default settings, all updates are done and etc.

So I am not sure what to even do now...

I really dont want to resort to poor coding for his site just to make it look alright on his computer..

You can use Browser Shots to see how the page renders using various versions of IE on various Windows platforms.

If the screenshots from Browser Shots differ from what your client is seeing, I would make sure his IE6 installation is clean (no hi-jacks, no spyware, etc).

Since Firefox displays the site correctly on his computer AND IE on OTHER computers display the page correctly, it's clear the problem is with _his_ IE browser so I wouldn't worry about doing any special HTML coding or anything.

EDIT: If you can, look at the "About Internet Explorer" information to confirm the exact IE version he's using.

Peace...

Do you have a link to the website? Maybe there's something in the code that someone here will notice that could be causing it to display differently.
