PHP beginner could use a little direction.
Experienced w/HTML and CSS - looking to broaden my experience with PHP, but for the life of me I can't see how to start it at my hosting facility. I've multiple sites running either Windows or Linux, and on the server there's a php_uploads folder and if I add a sub to it (example.php) I get an error message when I attempt to reach it over the net. Ex. http://www.mywebsite.php_uploads/example.php . I'm certain I'm missing something here but unaware what it might be. Any assistance appreciated. I've also saved an html file with a link to the sub folder but get an error message when I click the link. Just need to get the door open if you know what I mean.

Now that's a funny coincidence MMJ....I just made that address up.

However, the question remains - just don't grasp what has to be ftp'd (or uploaded) to my website in order to get php to function (work). Sorry if that made up address created confusion. To reiterate: I've a "php_uploads" folder installed on the hosting site with a sub "example.php" and a "message.html" installed. When I use the web http://.......message.html I get the message with the embedded link but an error message when the link is clicked. This has got to be the simplest thing I'm missing. But thanks for your response.

is an incorrect address. My post corrected it.

Just name a file with the .php extension and you're good to go.
