Simple But Professional
New Website Help

I want to build a new web site, something I haven’t done for many years. There are a lot of changes in the way websites are built and I have also noticed all the new software and hosting packages available. I was looking for the easy route to get it built and then up and running.

I have FrontPage 2003 but I will have to learn how to use it again or I could get other software.

The Domain name that I have is held by GoDaddy. I notice on their site that they have what they call – Point and Click web site design.

I want a site that looks professional but simple in layout. The size will run to about
30 pages and there will be a lot of new material added and old removed. The content will be almost all text. The only real requirement is a search facility.

GoDaddy offer Linux and Windows hosting options.

Could anyone please save me a lot of time by pointing me in the right direction?

I would really appreciate your views and guidance so that I can get a simple, but professional looking web up in the minimum of time.

Any thoughts or ideas would be really helpful.

Based on your requirements, I would recommend a content management system such as Drupal, Mambo, WordPress, or MovableType. They come with clean, professional layouts, are fairly easy to install, allow you to add or remove as much content as you want quickly and easily, and they all come with a search utility built right in.

There are so many hosting companies out there, it's hard to convince you one way or the other, but I would definitely recommend going with any Linux hosting over any Windows hosting. Linux will give you more reliability, compatibility, and it's what most people use these days. Personally, after doing a lot of research, I went with Bluehost, and I'm very happy with them so far!

Going with a CMS will get you a nice looking website in almost no time that is super-easy to manage.

I really appreciate your help that is exactly the kind of information I wanted.

I’m sure today is going to be a good day, even the suns shining and that doesn’t happen to often in Manchester UK.

Thanks for your help.
