Question I'm currently trying to build a website to sell things...
I have many items that need to be selected to add up to equal one total price. How would i make it so i could list all of my items at different prices so people could select which ones they want and have it create a total price on the same page. This is hard to explain, but I need to have different options for the same item. So i need to have an option for the customer to select which item they want from a list and then select one from each item listed. Maybe this will help. I have items a1, a2, a3, b1, b2, b3,c1, c2, c3 , etc. How do i create a method for a customer to select one item from each category (example: a2 + b1 + c3 ) and then have it place a total price at the bottom of the page where a customer then can pay that selected amount. Is this something easy to do or would this be a tedious task? thanks for your help in

Are you thinking of using dropdown boxes? (From what I gather, this would be the logical thing to do). If so, you can call a function when one is selected and use javascript to add it up. I understand how it would be done so I'll try and figure out the code, but I'm not too familiar with Javascript, so maybe there's someone with more knowledge who can help with that

Remember however, that this is not at all secure and would need some kind of server-side validation to secure the order (when doing this, the validation must not be based on prices sent to the server, but rather preset amounts found by using product names or codes).

oh okay thanks a lot, well i was thinking of just making a paypal button after they have chosen which ones the want from the drop down menu, so that will cover the payments. this is just to have them select which parts as well as give them a total that will then be sent to paypal.
