Thumbs down Can you put page files in folders with FP2003
I am being advised by my webhost to put my page files in folders. I have a lot (over 2000). I can not find any information that shows a Frontpage user making several different folders and then locating the page files in them. IS THIS POSSIBLE?

If it is possible, will the site still run on the Internet as it has before. It runs great. The problem I am having is uploading new pages and changes to my host. They time out on me. Thus there comment about folders.

On the website (not local) all pages are located in a file labeled public_html. Should I have a large folder on my local site called that and then create several different folders to put the numerous page files in?

I have resisted doing what they asked because of fear that it will screw up a well running site. You can see my site at http://www.bobheatly.com/ if you need to look at it to answer my questions.

Please advise me. I need help from someone I can trust to not lead me astray. I am assuming this change will take a considerable amount of time. By the way, I am not a computer guru. I am an artist who is pretty good with graphics and use Frontpage because it is like laying out a sheet of a portfolio or brochure.

Thanks in advance.

I have many of my page files in many folders. There's been times when I've decided to put a page in a folder later.

All I've done is create a new folder by clicking the folder icon on the right corner of the open FP program and naming it. I then drag and drop files into that folder. It will ask you if you want to rename the folder you've just dragged and dropped, you say yes, and it will rename that page for you so that it will still work correctly in a browser. You can create a folder and try dragging and dropping one page and see how it responds in the prgram and in the browser. If for some reason it will not work in the browser after you've moved it to the folder (though I don't know why it wouldn't; I've never had a problem), you can move it back by creating a "new from existing page" and naming the copy it's original name and saving it to it's original place, then deleting the one in the folder.

You can lead a horse to water........and Jack Bauer can make him drink.
