Exclamation Solved: EMERGENCY: Website server transfer
I'm having to change my website host/server on a very short timetable. The old one refuses to provide the FTP user name and password (sadly - we never had anything in writing).

How can I "draw my files off the site" as he has told me to do???

Thanks

Clarification:

I've now got someone who says he can "draw off the Files" but I understand they may not be best quality and may not be editable. The site has no sound or video:

www.mysterytome.com

thanks

If your new host allows you shell access, and you're familiar with the basic Linux shell, you could use the wget command:
http://linuxreviews.org/quicktips/wget/

Otherwise, you could use a program like HTTrack to mirror the website on your local computer. It will just basically download the whole site which you can then re-upload, modify, etc.

Or maybe WinWget for Windows.

Peace...

FWiW, I have a version of the website imported with MS-FrontPage 2003. Windows Explorer shows the folder with the imported site as containing 217 files, totaling 10,683,097 bytes. I made a single ZIP file out of the folder with a size of 10,204,001 bytes.

PM or e-mail me if you have an e-mail account that can accept an attached file of that size (like Gmail) and are interested in receiving the Zip file as an e-mail attachment.

Thank you, everyone for your helpful input.

HTTrack copied the site onto my computer, and the only thing we're now lacking is the source files (some design, fonts, etc, I guess) and my new web guy says he can recreate those (for a fee - but it's good to get away from the 1st guy!).

[b]cwwozniak[b]: I'm interested in what you have, because I only ended up with about 170 files, 10.7 MBs. I wonder what your additional files are. I'll PM you my email as soon as I can figure that out.

I love Tech Support Guy!

The additional files are probably all just configuration files created and used by FrontPage to manage the local copy of the site. It creates folders called "_vti_conf" inside of every "real" folder in the site and then puts small text files inside of it that have the exact same name and extension as the actual file.
