DreamWeaver 8-I'm Stupid
Man am I dumb!
A while back I created a web site using Front Page 2000.
I now have a new computer, HP Vista and I just got DreamWeaver 8.
I finally got the old web site opened using DW8 and made some changes (can't make changes nearly as easy with DW8 or not at all wlith DW8).
For the life of me I can NOT publish my web site.
I even bought a book on DW8 and still can not publish.
My web site is:
www.darleneparispipkin.com
and my web is server is Sevaa.
I know it is me and not the software but why does it have to be so complicated?
Could you please help me in very simple words.
Thanks so much,
Icybrez

IMHO rather than getting DW to upload your pages for you get a proper FTP programme. Filezilla for instance is free and an excellent FTP programme, this will give you full control of your management of your website files rather than letting DW do what it thinks you want.

Yep I agree totally with the above. Filezilla is easy to use. Just load it up.Tell it your web address, your user and password. Then browse to your updated pages on your computer in the left pane, select the folder where the HTML will sit on the web in the right pane, drag them over.

The problem you are having in DreamWeaver might be that you did not create a 'New Site' when you started editing your old site.

I downloaded Filezilla. I put in my web address, user and password. I can not figure out how to browse to my updated pages on DreamWeaver.
Could you please tell me step by step how to get my web site on to Filezilla to transferr the files?
I really don't know what I am doing.
Thanks,
Darlene.

Open up Filezilla. There will be six sections. Enter your username, password and host in (leave port - the default number is 21) in the toolbar section. Once your site has been connected, the directory of your site will show up. In the section to the immediate bottom left of the commands section navigate to your saved dreamweaver files and upload them (drag them across) to the section on the right hand side. You should drag them into a file called public_html or if that isn't there onto the main space (no file).

I hope this will help you get your website up and running. Jack.

laughing2 explained the filezilla part very well.
From reading your post I wondered if you are having a hard time finding the files on your computer?
If that is the case just open any one of the files in dreamweaver and then select 'save as'.
This will show you the name of the file and the folder it lives in.
If you are not sure of the path to that folder just click the up one dir arrow and pay attention to each dir name. Then when you open filezilla simply click on that same path to get to where the files are stored.
Hope this helps.

Thank You!
I still am not sure what to do. I am using Filezilla 3.0.11.1
I typed in Host: sevaa.com
Username:darlene and then
Password
Port - put in 21 and also tried it with nothing in it: then,
clincked on
Quickconnect - it connects
Right under these commands is: Local site: that has
c:\users\darleneparispipkin\documents\my webs\www.darleneparispipkin.com ---already in it.
There are files listed in this column --beside of this it say: Remote site: - There is nothing there but there are files under this column. One of which is public_html and there are other files under this file. I have tried clicking on one of them some of them and all of them.
Below Local Site -- It says Filename , size, etc. with some files under that.
Beside that site is another section that also says Filename Filesize etc. with files under that.
I can't seem to get it to work.
Is there something else I am suppose to do to get it to publish?
I even when back to my old computer and used FrontPage 2000 and now I can not publish from that! It says that I have transferred my files but when I check my site and even refesh it, it is still the same old site.
Thank you for your patience with me and any help you can give.
Darlene
