Load JPGS Faster
I resized my 2848 x 2136 resolution jpgs 1554 kb - to 400 x 300 resolution jpgs 32 kb in size ea. Is there another way to do this? I need my pages to load faster. I have 5 pages, or 25 pictures on each page. 32 kb I thought was small per picture. Is there another format that is smaller, and give me a good picture?
thanks

1) You can convert them into GIF's, which can lower the size, but might also make the quality go down exponentially. On rare ocassions png can make a file smaller too, but its unlikely.

2) Go into an image editing program (not ms paint, a real one), resave the image, find the quality option, and try lowering the percentage.

Another option would be to work in preloading, so that you can load images for page 2 when you are on page 1. You can use CSS to preload the images by making an element, say <div id="loadA"></div>, then giving it background-image:url(yourimage), width:1px, height:1px, and visibility:hidden. It will create an invisible element that will download the image to the users computer, so that when they load the next page they already have each image.

big-K is right.

if these images use a small range of colors, (not photographs or real life stuff) then making them gifs and optimizing could help a lot. do it right and it could make a huge diffrence.

but if they have a ton of diffrent colors (photos, real life stuff), then keeping them as jpg and moving the little slider in the optimizations thingy should help. go as low as you can where you can't really tell the diffrence visually.

Thanks
Thanks for both of your inputs. The first one is over my head,
but as far as optimizing, I think I can do that.
I'll give it a try.
They are "photo" pictures, and of course, has a lot of color.

I use photoshop to do this. I choose the command Save for Web then choose the relevant options. The result is pretty small in size but with great detail.

Thanks again
I have MS Digital Image, I'll see if it has that option on it.
Thanks again, I'll keep trying.

I think Fireworks makes smaller file size jpegs than photoshop at the same quality.

I can't remember the link but it was on one of those adobe tv programmes.

Fireworks
Thanks, I'll look into it.
I'm still trying.
Seems like the home page is the slowest,
got any ideas?

Maybe it's just internet traffic.

What is this, a Satan worship site?
Check the size of each graphic and see which is too large; say, over 50K.

32 kb
I resized them all to about 32 KB, I'll check in case I missed one.
It should load faster. I have 3 pictures, but they are small

Smaller JPegs
I reduced my jpegs to 11 kb each, but it still seams a little slow.
When I click on my website "through" favorites
It stalls sometimes.
When I click on the back, then forward, it comes in fast.
What could be causing it not to go right to the website index.html?
I also get a Method not allowed with my e-mail form.
Method POST is not allowed for the URL/
HELP!

Start by clearing your browser cache.
It comes in fast the second time because you've already the jpgs.
I can't imagine a reason not to give the URL for purposes of testing, and we're not going to be of much help without it.
