Solved: Is the .eu extension ok to use or will it be demoted in search engines
Hiya,
I'm going to set up a website for my sister and while searching for suitable names on 123.reg I came across a .eu name that was considerably cheaper than all the other extensions for the names she wanted.
Will it be ranked lower by search engines or.....well why is it so cheap.
This will be a company set in the UK.
Thanks.

Tony, I have a customer with a eu domain and it features on the first page of a Google search so I don't think that it would harm positioning on search engines in any way. The disadvantage of using other than a .com address is some people just type a name and add the .com when searching rather than use a search engine and so would never find the site. IMHO .com or .co.uk would be a better bet to cover this eventuality in the UK but if no suitable name can be found that is available then go for the .eu.

Thanks Colinsp
I didn't even know ppl did that....i'd be like why type in the extension for a search! You might as well just type it in the address bar...lol.
Cheers...I'll let her know.
