MySQL server username?
hi there

I want to biuld a PHP login feature in my web site so that it could be linked to a phpMyAdmin database.

One question is: Its possible, right?

Second question: Then any time someone registered what the user entered in the form fields would be displayed on my phpMyAdmin database?

Third question: Well, I`ve been reading some php tutorials and they say i`ve got to biuld a localhost server first, but when I complete the Dreamweaver "manage sites" wizard and try to add a mySQL database to the site it asks for a username and password, what are these?

thanks

Hi Gesp,

Q3: Have you got WAMP or XAMPP setup on your local machine? I think when you have one of these programs setup the username is usually 'root' even though this is a big NONO for live sites.

Are you building the login system locally? with plans to move it onto your website ?

Yes i`ve got XAMPP installed, and tryed to follow some tutorials, but none of them tells me the username and the password nor how to define them.

Yes, i`d like to build a login engine and link it to php data base on phpMyAdmin, so that i can easely manage that data base.

Well from what I remember from XAMPP you define a username and password on installation.

Theres numerous tutorials for login scripts out there. For example this one. There are other options if you want a more robust login system (if your willing to pay a few quid) this pre-built login system might be worth a look.

Did you try using the username 'root' with no password?

Yes, but it apears a loading bar, testing the PHP server, but after it loads it apears a window saying that there was no response from the server.
I even checked to start XAMPP so the connection could be extablished.

By the way, is there any default connection name when using XAMPP?

In Dreamweaver to make a mySQL connection we have to define a site first.

Then what are the undispensable options i`ve got to select in order to successfuly connect the system and assign a Database?

Have you checked that all of the XAMPP services are running? I think you click on the XAMPP logo in your system tray you'll need to make sure the apache service is running.

What happens if you go to your browser and type http://localhost/

I`ve followed a tutorial and have gotten to the point where i have to test my connection in dreamweaver but it gives me an error response.

In this tutorial I got to the last page and when connecting to the data base it didn`t apear any thing in the connected database folders and I have elements there... why doesn`t it apear nothing?
