Solved: Problem with FTP
Hi all,

For the past couple of years I have had no problem uploading modified files to our website. I have been using FileZilla, and it was always a quick and easy process.
Yesterday, after updating one of the pages, I opened FileZilla; hit 'quick connect'; and, after waiting a while, received this message:

Error: Transfer channel can't be opened. Reason: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
Error: Could not retrieve directory listing

After several unsuccessful attempts, I tried using a different FTP program, (Core FTP Lite), with no luck. I also downloaded an updated version of FileZilla, and it still didn't work.

Can anyone please give me a simple solution? Why did this stop working after 2 years, and how can I fix it quickly?

Thanks in advance,

Don Felipe

And you called your hosting provider to find out if there was any issues with their servers?

Hi Squashman,

Thanks for a quick response. Unfortunately, our hosting provider does not have server support available on weekends! Go figure! I called their 'after hours' number, but they just said that I would have to call Monday morning.

However, I am concerned that it may not be a server problem. I tried to access another site that I update, with a different host, and still could not access it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Don Felipe
