Question I'm sure there is no right or wrong answer
How much bandwidth and storage space would be considered a safe amount.

Hi,

This is totally dependent upon the features your website has and most importantly how many users you expect to be on your website. For a new website 5GB of space and 5 GB of bandwidth should be good to start with.
