What do your proxy settings look like?

If Google Chrome won't load
any websites, then something is different in the network configuration between Firefox and Chrome, most likely the proxy configuration.
I'm going to have you visit a website to test whether you could be using a proxy or not. Go here:
http://whatismyipaddress.com/
After the map it will say "IP Address Location: ...." Is this location close to (within 50 miles of) your actual location? If it's not, especially if it's way off (in another state or country) you're probably using a proxy, whether you know it or not.
How do you connect to the internet? Do you have fiber, cable, DSL, or dial-up?
Is your computer connected to a router or directly to the modem?
I doubt your router or your ISP is proxying your traffic, which leaves something configured on your system, or another cause altogether.
If your proxy settings are indeed off and the test shows you're not using a proxy, you'll probably need to go back to the company and get more technical details about the error.
